Peggy Willhide
Peggy C. Wilhide was appointed Associate Administrator for Public Affairs
of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on March 31,
1997. In this position, she is the senior NASA official for public affairs,
responsible for planning, developing, and providing oversight for agencywide
public affairs activities. She also advises the NASA Administrator and senior
NASA managers; directs a Headquarters staff of 50 people, with 270 nationwide.
She sets policy for print and broadcast new releases, development and use
of mission video, news conferences, briefings, exhibits, speakers, public
tours and visitors centers, fine arts, public ceremonies and special events.
Ms. Wilhide served as the Press Secretary for Vice President Al Gore from May 1995 to August 1996, and was responsible for all day-to-day press duties. From November 1991 to May 1995, she served as Press Secretary to Senator Charles S. Robb. She also supervised the Clinton/Gore campaign's satellite television service for the 1996 election. Her previous experience includes work as a daily newspaper reporter at the Montgomery Adviser, Montgomery, AL, and the Moultrie Observer, Moultrie, GA. Ms. Wilhide received a Bachelor's Degree in journalism with a political science minor from Auburn University, Auburn, AL, in 1981. Archived Chats
