Q&A Session with Sharon Yavrom

Q: What exactly do you do in the lab in your current job?

A: I am currently working with a team including 7 Investigators from
different Universities around the country and Canada. We are studying
the effects of space flight on pregnant rats and their pups and
fetuses. We are looking at the moms, pups and fetuses behavior,
morphology as well as their physiology.

Q: I get so bored in some of my classes sometimes. Do you have suggestions
to make thins interesting when they're not?

A: I'll be honest, not all classes are interesting. I have this little motto
that I like to live my life by: Life is only as fun as you make it for
yourself. You can turn any bad/boring situation into something more
interesting for yourself. If you follow this, I assure you, that you
will see that the class won't be so boring. I am currently taking a
class that is not so interesting, Radiation Biophsysics at a local
University. I just try to stay on top of the lectures and I find that
trying to follow along and actively take notes can help.

Q: Do you see yourself in the future as being able to travel into space?

A: I sure hope so! I've always wanted to be an astronaut. I see our world
moving in a direction where more and more people will be working/living in
space. Luckily for us, women are being incorporated more and more
into the space program, being an astronaut is more possible than you
   ever thought.

Q: Did you ever become discouraged and want to give up because you had to
   repeat some classes?

A: Sure I got discouraged! Although, I always tried to pick myself up and
have at it one more time. When you want something bad enough, you
know what you have to do. Just because I was weak in one subject,
namely Chemistry, I still knew I wanted to be in the sciences. Any
hardships and dispair I underwent to get me where I am today was well
worth it! Never, ever let a class or teacher discourage you from
doing what you want to. Let them only be a reminder that you have to
work a little harder. You live this life for you only. Don't let
   anyone influence you.
