LeHang

Lehang photo Hi, I'm LeHang, one of the Young Women of NASA Student Advisory Council members. Right now, I'm a senior in high school. This will be my fourth year taking math, science, Spanish and English. Even though it's not required to take math and science for four years, I still take them. I find these two subjects more challenging everyday, but yet still interesting. Since I knew from freshman year that I wanted to major in computer science in the future, I've decided to take all the courses related to that field. So, in other words, I'm trying to be as prepared as I can for college. It's very important that you should start thinking about what you want to do in the future so you don't waste any time. Even though this piece of advice has been repeated over and over again, I still think it holds true.

I'm currently interning at Autodesk's Design Your Future as a Web Architect. I've been here for a year and a half. Most of things I'm responsible for are web-related, which require me to do HTML programming. I also create some web graphics in Photoshop. Besides helping maintain our DYF website, I also do other things, like interviewing some of the most successful women in Autodesk and elsewhere. My internship at Autodesk has really helped shape my skills in HTML programming, Photoshop, and presentations. I've also learned something I've never actually thought was important in school, despite all the contradictions, teamwork. But ever since working at Autodesk, I've finally realized that you can't get anything done if you don't cooperate with other members in the team and incorporate all the ideas. Two is always better than one. As a member of the Women of NASA council, I am using my web talents and skills to help improve the web pages. I'm currently designing a search tool to sort through the list of women that we might use. I'll also use my Photoshop skills to help the other girls with design and layout on their journal pages as well as work on a YWAC logo.

Some of the things I enjoy most when I have spare time is to spend time with my family and friends, play tennis, draw, and design webpages. If there is a long weekend, I would most likely go camping or take short trips with my family.

So what's next in line for me? Applying to colleges. I'm planning to go to a four year college and major in CS. Then after that, I hope to get a job in a software company like Autodesk.
