18 is the Loneliest Number

I'm in 6th grade in Colorado Springs at West Middle
School. My name is Scott. At Kennedy I saw lots of exciting things including
double decker buses and the Space Shuttle Discovery on launch 39A. It
is big! Our tour started with us getting off our tour bus and going to
the bathroom. After that we got on these huge double decker busses. We
drove all over Kennedy Space Center seeing lots of space buildings and
things.
Our first stop on the bus was the Apollo Theater.
We watched a short movie on the Apollo trips, the Apollo Craftsand some
important people who have walked on the moon like Gene Cernann. I found
out he was the last human to walk on the moon. After the movie was over
we saw a simulation of the launch of Apollo 8. Then, we came into a BIG
room that housed the whole Apollo 18 spacecraft. It was in that room because
Apollo 18 never launched because of lack of interest. I can't believe
that there was a lack of interest of something that was so unbelievable.
If the people that were not interested had ever seen a big Apollo rocket,
they would suddenly be interested. That's for sure!
When we were done seeing the rockets, we went back
to the main part of Kennedy on the double decker buses and we barely made
it in time to see the Imax movie. Imax is like nothing I have ever seen! The
screen is wrap around, 3-D and tall. When we walked out at the end of
Imax we went through parts of a module of the International Space Station.
It had these things called, glove boxes. It is where scientist and astronauts
will store stuff while they are in space. They even had glove boxes in
the floor.
Next, we went outside and went to a place called
the rocket garden. We went on a scavenger hunt to learn about all the
different rockets that have sent Americans into space. We saw rockets like
the Red Stone Rocket. All the rocket were thereal ones. One of the kids
on our trip brought a book on the plane that had a picture of the rocket
garden in it.That made it cool to see the real thing. Our team won the
scavenger hunt so we won pictures of Shuttle Discovery launching.
That was cool because that is the shuttle that we
saw on the launch pad that will go into space next.
