Once in a Lifetime
My
experience at the Kennedy Space Center was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
We went on an exclusive tour, which include events like meeting astronaut
Rick Searfoss and getting to take a group picture with him. We went
to the rocket garden where we saw actual rockets that were built for
space travel. Seeing actual rockets was great. WE saw an IMAX movie
called, "The Dream is Alive". It was about how astronauts train for
space and how they go out on a space walk. We later went to the ISS
(International Space Station) Processing Facility. We saw loads of parts
to the station that will be flown into space on later flights.
We got to see the VIP grandstands, which is the
closest spot you can see a launch from. It is three miles away and they
say that it is still so loud and bright that at night during a launch
from three miles it is a light as daytime. We also saw a simulation
of the final minutes of the launch of Apollo Eight. It was loud and
very exciting. This experience was very exciting and I would love to
go there again and again. There is so much to see I know I would learn
many new things by going back again.
