My Favorite Rocket,

The Saturn V Today I went to the rocket-launching center of the Kennedy Space Center. When seeing the shuttle launch, the closest you can get is three miles. My favorite rocket is the Saturn V rocket which is 36 stories high and was used to put man on the moon.

rocket enginesI got to see a real Saturn V rocket. It was so big. It was unbelievable. All of the stages of the Saturn V were broken apart so you could see how they would connect together. Most of the rocket holds the fuel to get the rocket into space. Only a small part of the rocket is for the astronauts. We also got to see a Command Module, which would have orbited the moon, while two of the astronauts were on the surface. Also, on display was an actual Apollo capsule that returned the astronauts the Earth after their moon mission was completed. In the Rocket Garden I learned about all the rockets that have been used in the United States Space Program. They used a lot of different rockets before inventing the shuttle. I heard an astronaut talk about his view of space. He said one of the best parts of being in space was looking out the window and seeing the Earth. I sure hope I can come back next year and learn more.
