3-D 360 Degree X-77 Flight Simulator

Upside Down with Nothing but Seat Belts
By Keith

Today I went on a 360-3D simulator. When you first see the outside of this simulator is seems a bit suspicious. Then when the doors open and you go inside and sit down you feel excited. When the simulator starts up you go up and down. Then you start to turn full 360-degree barrel rolls. The real movements of the simulator are configured to move with a 3D virtual show that is played on a big screen. Each person feels like they are flying against another pilot. It is a very good simulator. Next, I went on the Mars landing Mission. The main objective of this simulator is to set up beacons in the middle of nowhere. This simulator does not move around but instead it simulates driving over very bumpy terrain. This simulator shakes you all around and I even bumped my head.

After enjoying many of the simulators in the astronaut hall of fame, we all went to the main floor simulation room at space camp. In this huge room there are many simulators such as the Zero- G wall, Multi Axis Space Trainer, Five Degrees of Freedom Chair, The Manned Maneuvering Unit and the Lunar Simulator called the 1/6 G chair. The simulator that I was chosen for was the Five Degrees of Freedom Chair. We had a trainer that stayed with us while we were at space camp. He hooked me into the chair and latched me into the chair with a five-way seat belt. Then I was moved way out on the floor so that all of my team members could seem me. Now comes the fun. I started to move in all five directions, They are, Up and Down, Left and Right, Pitch, Roll and Yaw. When they move you in the roll direction you end up completely up side Ðdown and the only thing that you are touching is the seat belts to you legs and chest. These are the simulators that I went on at during my visit to space camp. Thanks for reading my essay.
