3-D 360 Degree X-77 Flight Simulator
My Second Time was a Charm
By Joe

Hi I am Joe. I just went to Florida for the second time
with my favorite teacher, Mr. Weiner. On the first day of our trip we
arrived in Orlando, went to the hotel, unpacked and got settled in. The
next day we went to Space Camp and the Astronaut Hall of Fame. When we
first arrived our guides met us and took us on a guided tour of the Astronaut
Hall of Fame museum. We saw tons of actual space artifacts. These artifacts
included letter, uniforms, even merit badges that were earned by Neil
Armstrong. Next we went to the gift shop and it was boring because I did
not want to buy any souvenirs. Then we ate lunch. After lunch we went
to the coolest group of rooms, the place where the simulators are. My
favorite simulator is the 3-D 360 degrees X-77 simulator. I went on it
like ten times. In this simulator you take a flight aboard the X-77. This
simulator actually rotates 360 degrees five times and the graphics inside
are all shown in 3-D. You have to wear glasses during this simulator.
This is my second time on this trip and I still canŐt seem to get enough
of this simulator. Another fun simulator is the 4-G F-16 simulator. You
are in a "Jet". As the jet twists and turns, 4-Gs of force are applied
to all to all of the surfaces of your body. This is a very fun experience.
After that, we went to the main simulator area of space camp. I was able
to go on the Zero-Gravity wall or as it is called by space camp veterans
"the Wedgie Wall." It is called the Wedgie Wall because the harness that
you wear on this simulator gives you an atomic wedgie. The harness pulls
on you so hard that all or your clothes get totally wedgied. I thought
this simulator is great. The space camp staff equalizes your own weight
with big weights like the ones they use of a weight lifting machine. First
you get weighed. Then they balance you with the weights. Then you get
to simulate building a truss structure in space. If you barely push off
the ground, you will fly all the way up. Once up you can just wave your
arms and you will go back down. This simulator gives you the feeling of
the weightlessness experienced in space. I had fun on this trip and I
want to thank Mr. Weiner for taking us on the ultimate field trip.
