Pam Merola's Third
Graders Write Space Poems

    SATURN

    by Maggie

    Beautiful,

    Ringed,

    Huge, spinning

    Slowly, mysterious,

    Famous, enchanting,

    Far from Earth, far from

    Me.

    MARS

M any rocks on its surface
    A steroids crashing into it
    R overs gathering information
S cientists trying to find life.

    by Sam

    MARS

    Mars
    BIG and hot
    with a red color.

    It swirls rapidly in space.
Its rocky surface is a horrible place.

When its winds whirl 100 miles per hour,
it lifts space probes trying to explore.

    Before the Mars Sojourner landed
    Mars was an unknown planet.

When you see Mars in the sky,
Think and wish you were there.

    by Ben

    The Poem in Space

    I LIKE EVERYTHING

    I like the stars.
    I like the moon.
    I like the Sun.
    I like the Earth.
    I like Mars.
    I like Pluto.
    I like Venus.

    I like all the planets.

    by Gracie

    MARS

    Mars
    The red hot planet
It's like a ruby running in space
      with diamonds blinking
       in space.

    Satellites flying
       blowing up
    Like stars blowing out
    And comets hitting planets
       making craters
    Mars' volcanoes erupting.

    SPACE
Is like a black hole in the sky.

    by Ian

    SATURN

    A round gas giant,

        beautiful,

      swirling gas,

      bluish,

        many moons,

far from the sun, far from heat.

    by Janie

    URANUS RINGS

Uranus rings are round and plump
Uranus spins on the axis sideways

The middle of Uranus is a little core

          that is yellow.

    by Jasmine

    THE SUN

    The sun is bright

        so bright it is.

    It gives us warmth

        so warm it is.

I can't believe how far it is.
