Meet: Adam Wieser
High School Student
Indiana School for the Deaf
Who I am - words that describe me:
I am motivated, patient, and responsible. These characteristics are important
to me.
My personal challenges:
In our high school, I have participated in programs that have been very
challenging for me. Last year, I went to the Aviation Challenge program
at Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. Our group was assigned to do a "patrolling"
activity outdoors in the woods. Trust me, it was not easy, and unfortunately,
the activity was interrupted by a tornado. We did manage to do more than
half of the assignment by completing the rafting, clearing the area, and
finding our way through half of the course in the dark. We did consider
ourselves successful, in spite of the interruption by the tornado!
My career challenges:
I do think various challenges have helped me to analyze myself. These
challenges have applied in my daily life by giving me patience, organization
skills, and responsibility. These challenges have helped me with my high
school education.
My career:
I am a junior in the High School Department at the Indiana School for
the Deaf. I am involved in sports: cross-country, football, basketball,
and track. I am president of the junior class, an officer for our Junior
National Association of the Deaf, and involved in the Investment Club
which includes Pre-Calculus students.
Likes/Dislikes about career:
What I like best about being a student at the Indiana School for the Deaf
are the variety of programs our school has for the students. I am free
to participate in as many programs and organizations as possible. I hope
my involvement will have a positive impact on the future of the Indiana
School for the Deaf.
Influences:
The most influential person in my life is my father, James. I really look
up to him. He tells me many stories about his life and each of these stories
have really taught me something. He is the most unique person I have known
and loved.
Future goals:
My goals are to succeed in school and go to college. My education will
open many doors to allow me to access the real world. I want to be successful
in many ways: physically, mentally, spiritually, and in relationships
with other people.
My thoughts about space exploration:
Ever since I was 9 years old, I have wanted to become an astronomer. So
it is obvious that I am fascinated by space exploration. Our nation's
goals of space exploration can help us discover many ways to use space
to make our lives easier, as well as be an avenue towards world peace.
I believe that space exploration is the only way to obtain global peace.
