Meet: Jessica Schmidt
High School Student
Indiana School for the Deaf
Who I am - words that describe me:
I am a friendly and caring person. I am very active and love sports. I
love challenges and adventures.
My personal challenges:
Some of my most challenging experiences include participating in the Youth
Leadership Camp, canoeing trips, and learning to scuba dive.
Overcoming fear has helped me to become successful in school and in my
personal life.
My career:
I am a junior in the High School Department of the Indiana School for
the Deaf. I am involved in the sports of volleyball, cheerleading, and
track. I participate in the Junior National Association of the Deaf, and
I am the vice president of the junior class.
Influences:
The most influential people in my life are my parents. They have taught
me many valuable lessons in life. Another person that I admire and respect
is Jenny Cooper. She has been like a "Big Sister" to me.
Future goals:
My future goals include graduating from college and having a career. I
haven't decided exactly which career interests me the most.
My thoughts about space exploration:
My interest in space exploration lies in my curiosity in wanting to know
what is out there. It would be an amazing adventure in experiencing and
learning what is there and learning more about our own origins.
