Meet: Heather Onovi
Engineering Assistant
NASA's SHARP Program
Who I am - phrases that describe me:
I am a student at Astronaut High School in Titusville, Florida. I enjoy
learning and researching things that interest me. I am a musician with
a passion for vocal performance.
My personal challenges:
I hope to one day go into professional research. I believe that research
is a way to "pursue life-long learning" and to "stimulate your imagination."
My career challenges:
I am an aspiring biomedical engineer. I also am interested in neuroscience
and biochemistry and will one day research bioelectrochemical functions
of the human body.
Influences:
The most influential people in my life are my parents who always push
me to do my best. From them I have learned that, when searching for a
college, job, etc., I don't have to search for the aspects of a program
that I can adjust to. Instead, I should find the program which can help
me fulfill my goals and offer me everything I need to achieve them.
Future goals:
My largest goal right now, is to attend the University of Florida and
be a part of their Honors Program. I want to continue through school and
obtain my PH.D.
My thoughts about space exploration:
Space exploration interests me because, with the new developments taking
place in Astrobiology, I believe that space travel may one day become
the most valuable tool in biological research and experimentation.
Personal information:
At seventeen, I am the oldest of three. My only pet is a white cocka-poo
named Ron Jon (because he was born on Cocoa Beach). My hobbies include
playing piano, and singing alto in a small performance choir. My talents
include artistic creativity and music. My future plans are to attend college,
and work as an engineer or researcher.
