Back to work after Georges

by Krisstina Wilmoth
September 26, l998

Hurricane Georges may have some punch, but we're not giving up our project. My fellow Crew Coordinator and I are heading back to Key Largo today to try to get our project back on track. We don't know what we'll find yet, but the reports so far have been positive. The hurricane seems to have missed Key Largo though it has hit a little farther south with quite a bit of force.

The one thing I'm looking forward to in returning to our project is that the staff won't have the stress of an impending storm. It was difficult to focus on our work last week while worrying about whether or not the storm would hit. It didn't help to see what devastating effect Georges has had on the Dominican Republic; many people lost their lives and their homes in that small country. We are so much more fortunate.

Hurricanes not withstanding, it's back to work for the Challenge Project Crew.
