Taking care of the computer
by Bill Strathearn
September 16, l998
I worked today to get the docking station and the computer in a water
proof contatiner to be transported to the SAS. The dock was too big to
fit inside any of the standard dry boxes at the M.R.D.F. I ran to the
dive shop to get a dry bag that the computer would fit in. No precaution
was too cautious as this computer setup is worth close to $ 7000.00. It
was only going to be submerged for a short time, but I have taken very
good care of this computer from the day I got it, and I was not going
to have it ruined now. I went into the station first and waited for another
diver to bring the computer inside. I was pleased when I did not see a
drop of water on any of it. Every thing was put in its place and set aside
to configure and test another day.
The station was a little smaller than I thought It was going to be but
It was very clean and was very evident that lot of care was taken at every
step of the construction and design.
