Waiting and watching

I saw some of the team members at breakfast that morning before we were
supposed to meet. I was informed that we wouldn't be meeting because some
things still had to be worked out and calls still had to be made.
We rescheduled for late afternoon. Karen wasn't feeling well so I took
her to an emergency clinic while the others were still busy working out
their proposals. Hurricane Georges was still building up strength so it
was looking like we would have to go dry. I took Karen back to her room
and tried to convince her to get some rest. I felt that Krisstina could
work out their part of the task while she tried to get better, especially
if she wanted to dive when we got back to Key Largo. Reluctantly, she
complied.
I made some calls to try to find accommodations in Orlando or Cocoa
Beach for Sunday assuming we determine we could not continue with a wet
program and had to go dry. I also made arrangements with the hotel to
have access to a conference phone for our teleconference with Rose at
9-10 p.m. that evening. We met later that afternoon and discussed crew
activities and technology aspects for Scenario #1 and #2. We broke for
a bite to eat and met up again prior to 9 p.m. for our teleconference
with Rose.
By the time we all met again and could brief Rose on the two scenarios,
Krisstina had been in touch with Dennis and it looked like things were
looking better as far as continuing the mission went. Rose was appraised
of the situation and got feedback from the team members. Based on the
information provided, Rose made tentative plans to fly into Miami, if
the airport opened, on Sunday, wait for Alyssa and proceed to Key Largo
early Monday morning.
We're still listening for weather reports, but it looks like we can
plan on traveling back on Sunday.
