FIELD JOURNAL FIELD JOURNAL FIELD JOURNAL FIELD JOURNAL

On the job

by Kathy Sablan
Tuesday, September 22, l998

When I got to MRDF the teams were preparing for the day's activities. I met up with the team members. I introduced myself to the KSC team members I had not met before and the staff of MRDF. Krisstina gave me instructions on what she needed me to do:

Do a food/drink run for the staff and for James Cameron.
Set up the press room and get the packets ready for the participants.
As the morning heat started to bear down on the participants I decided we needed to have cold water available for the staff and crew. I told Krisstina and Bonnie that I was going to do a water run. I borrowed a cooler from Rick at MRDF and Robin from KSC. I went for a water run, filled up the water coolers with ice and spring water. Bonnie, Jennifer and I discussed how to set up the press room. The staff was preparing James Cameron in the morning for his stay on the station. Linda Conrad was busy working away at her computer. Everyone had a role to play in the mission and everyone was independently doing their assignments.
