Launch scrubbed for 24 hours

by Dennis Chamberland
September 14, l998

At 10 PM last night I scrubbed the SCSAS launch for 24 hours. The electrician departed the habitat at 9:00 PM last night, but it was too late to then conduct the cabin pressure test - we had no other choice. (Plus the Surface Support Barge mysteriously developed a flat this weekend which is yet another show-stopper.)

We could not scrub 12 hours because the ramp at Pennikamp is not open that early, so 24 hours was the only reasonable choice. I notified the team, and we are scheduled to pick back up working today at 8:00 AM for a departure from KSC tomorrow morning to catch the Tuesday evening tide. I have designed 72 hours of hold contingency in the schedule so we are still on for an on-time start.
