Meet: Robin Folsom
Project Coordinator
MARS Outreach Program Kennedy Space Center
Who I am - words that describe me:
I am discriminating - It's what I use to resolve the various conflicts
I am faced with on a daily basis. Not much gets by me without my questioning
it, because I need to allocate a place and system for everything. I am
perpetually in the assessment and preparation stages of making adjustments.
I am analytical - My process of judgment involves analyzing everything
down to the last detail before taking action.
I am calm - Even though I am a coordinator I feel that everything
happens for a reason and I can't control every detail around me. That
in no way stops me from trying, though.
I am outgoing - I am in no way the 'Cheerleader' type, but I
generally don't have trouble fitting in where ever I go.
How I confront challenges:
(This may not match a Challenge theme, but it is what I live by) When
things go wrong, I don't panic, I just handle it. You can't sweat the
small stuff-because it's all small stuff!
Embrace Challenge - To me, life would be boring without constant
challenges. Facing daily challenges helps me to grow, not only in my career,
but in life.
My career:
I am a project coordinator in every sense of the word. I not only keep
track of the daily operations of the MARS [Mission to America's Remarkable
Students] Outreach Program on KSC, but I am the web master for it's upcoming
web page and the group graphics artist. I am also the payload coordinator
for the KSC-MARS payload to be sent up in May 1999.
What I like best about my career:
I love the people I work with. The MARS program here at KSC has the best
group of people I have ever had the pleasure of working with
Influences:
My Grandmother, Evelyn Wann was an influential person in my life. Although
she died when I was only 10 years old, she shared her lifetime of wisdom
with me in that short time. She taught me giving and graciousness, friendship
and forgiveness, love and loyalty.
Future goals:
I would like to go back to school and go all the way through for my masters
degree in marketing.
Personal information:
I've been married for 4 years and have no children
I do have one dog, who is like my child; a basset hound named 'Sir Isaac
Newton's Law of Gravity' (Newton for short).
I was born and raised in and around the Shuttle Program on Vandenberg
AFB, California. I am the Vice President of Administration for the Space
Coast Network of Executive Women. I was the first women to be the editor
of an international hunting and fishing magazine - the SNI Sportsmen out
of Melbourne, FL.
