Thank you for joining us in the chat room reserved for the Webcasts for
the Challenge Project. Our next webcast is scheduled for 11:30am PDT/
2:30pm EDT and will feature Tom Leaird and Patsy Donn in the Scott Carpenter
Station, and Edmund F. Ball dockside. See bios at: http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/space/challenge/team
[ EdBall - 117 - 11:29:39 ]
Is there anyone out there from Ball State Telecommuications?
[ Linda/NASAQuest - 116 - 11:28:29
]
RE: [EdBall] I'm here on line. Is anyone else?
Hello Ed, Good to have you on board. We are waiting for the Station to
get onboard, so perhaps you could tell us a little about your experience
in the Jules station so far.
[ EdBall - 119 - 11:35:25 ]
We spent 5 hours. We had lunch (lobster salad), we talked about wellness
and aging and effects of space and salt water especially, weightlessness
in space and in the water. As you know astronauts train in the buoyancy
of water.
[ Alan/Webmaster - 121 - 11:36:34 ]
Hi ED - are you enjoying yourself?
[ EdBall - 122 - 11:37:09 ]
Is Neil Schmottlach or anyone from the Fisher Wellness Center out there?
[ Linda/NASAQuest - 125 - 11:39:18
]
RE: [Alan/Webmaster] I see lots of people in
live - but no encoder from the station.
All I get is Bill's "Sorry...." message!
[ Linda/NASAQuest - 126 - 11:40:18
]
RE: [Alan/Webmaster] Hey ED/Linda - I quess
there are some gremlins - I don't see the webcast and I don't see many
people in the Chat room. - I am standing by.
Thanks Alan, your support is much appreciated.
[ EdBall - 127 - 11:41:19 ]
Alan - This has been a great experience. Yesterday we spent 5 hours in
Jules Lodge. It is 23 feet under the water. We spent a great deal of time
talking about the process of aging, wellness, our philosophies, our personal
goals. Where are you from Alan?
[ EdBall - 129 - 11:45:57 ]
RE [ Alan/Webmaster - 128 - 11:42:21 ]
Ed Ball are you still there? What was the trip down to the station like
- Did you see any hurricane damage? BTW My wife and 2 of my Brother-in-laws
are Ball State alums. I have fond memories of Muncie.
That's great! We delayed our trip until Sunday (when we left Muncie).
The flight was uneventful. We could see on our radar screen the remains
of storm clouds scattered about probably 200 miles west of our course.
[ Linda/NASAQuest - 130 - 11:46:06
]
Dennis, did I hear you down there in the Station? Is there a problem transmitting
video/audio?
[ EdBall - 131 - 11:47:10 ]
Alan - No damage at Key Largo.
[ EdBall - 135 - 11:52:03 ]
Alan - About noon we came back to the lagoon. I took an underwater tour
of the lagoon and then visited the Scott Carpenter Station (20 feet under
water) went up through the hatch, but not entirely into the dry area which
is about the size of the Apollo capsule. It can accommodate 3 people -
but it's crowded.
[ EdBall - 138 - 11:54:56 ]
Alan, you said that you graduated from Ball State. Where are you from
- Indiana or another state?
[ Bonnie - 139 - 11:56:07 ]
Hi! I am Bonnie from Colorado State University, but I also graduated from
Ball State.
[ Bonnie - 142 - 11:57:25 ]
The Challenge Mission has brought many unique challenges to all involved
- far beyond and different than we had imagined in the beginning.
[ Alan/Webmaster - 143 - 11:58:19 ]
Ed - Not Me - my lovely bride was working at BSU when first we met - I
was living in Ft. Wayne at the time. She got a MS at BSU. We now live
in CA - I help Linda (occasionally) with internet stuff.
[ Bonnie - 144 - 11:58:42 ]
We experienced a hurricane determined to delay our plans, we have had
computer glitches....adapting has been the key word
[ EdBall - 145 - 12:00:05 ]
Alan, Thanks for answering. It has been a pleasure talking with you.
[ EdBall - 146 - 12:00:29 ]
Alan, come back to Muncie and visit us sometime.
[ Linda/NASAQuest - 151 - 12:02:03
]
RE: [Teresa/IndianaDeafSchool] Hello everyone!
We would like to ask Ed Ball, How do you do it??? Fly ... scuba dive ...
We think it is terrific! Hello Bonnie!!
Hi Teresa, Neat to see you.
[ Alan/Webmaster - 152 - 12:02:10 ]
Ed - We visit our Relatives in Ft. Wayne at least twice a year, so it
is a possibility!
[ EdBall - 153 - 12:02:16 ]
I was asked what some of my goals are. My goal is to live as long as I
can, do as much as I can, and as much good as I can for the rest of my
life.
[ EdBall - 155 - 12:02:55 ]
Signing off. This has been great.
[ Linda/NASAQuest - 156 - 12:05:24
]
RE: [EdBall] Signing off. This has been great.

[ Linda/NASAQuest - 158 - 12:06:54

RE: [Alan/Webmaster] Linda - even though the
webcast from the station is not working - we have lots of activity on
the server - so I suspect people are trying. I am going to stealth mode
now. Nice talking to you Bonnie, Ed.
Thanks for your help Alan!
[ Linda/NASAQuest - 160 - 12:08:56

[ Teresa/IndianaDeafSchool - 161 - 12:10:54 ]

RE [ Dan - 173 - 12:27:12 ]
Greetings from West Lafayette...I just got the site address in a phone
