Senator Glenn,
I am writing to let you know how proud I am of you and for all you have
accomplished. I have followed your career from the very beginning in the
space program. I never missed watching any of your flights. No one bothered
me as I sat enthralled with what I was seeing, not always believing what
was going on.
I got my pilot's license at the age of 16 in a small plane on pontoons,
or skis, in winter in northern Maine. I applied to be the teacher in space,
at the time knowing I was probably too old. You are proving age can be
an advantage!
I am 71 and just as excited about anything that flies today as I was
55 years ago. I still run outdoors to try to identify a plane flying over
as I did as a watcher during WW II.
Bon Voyage and Good luck,
Sincerely,
Paulyn C. Howard
