How long will Cassini continue to slow?

ANSWER from Jim Frautnick on October 1, 1999:
Cassini will continue to slow as it gets further from the Sun, however,
when Cassini passes by planets, the trajectory is designed to gain a
"gravity assist" whereby the spacecraft gets a boost from the planet's
gravity effect which increases the spacecraft speed.  The next planetary
encounter is Jupiter in December 2000. After Jupiter, Cassini will slow
slightly until it reaches Saturn where a large maneuver will slow the
spacecraft enough that it is capured in Saturn orbit.
