For the past three years, I have worked with the Educational Technology Team at the NASA Ames Research Center in northern California. My job as the Evaluation Coordinator is to find teachers and students to explore NASA’s educational products and programs and then to collect feedback on what they liked, learned, and want.
I first entered the field of education when I attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. It was there that I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education Interdisciplinary Studies with specializations in Earth Science and English. I completed my student teaching requirements in Houston, Texas and Brisbane, Australia and then taught 4th and 7th grades in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Subsequently, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, which led me to NASA Ames!
Although much of my day involves analyzing data and writing reports, I love my job because it allows me to work closely with teachers and students and to discover what makes learning fun. Occasionally my work allows me the pleasure of presenting educational materials at teacher workshops, but what I enjoy most are the times that I get to teach in the classroom and interact directly with students.
Outside of NASA, I enjoy running, rollerblading, watching movies, and taking various dance classes. I recently discovered my taste for bowling and playing cards and, of course, I can never pass up an opportunity to travel.
