The world's only underwater laboratory

Join us live from underwater, off the coast of the Florida Keys, in a submersible deep-sea habitat called the Aquarius. NASA is interested in finding out if this facility could help us understand and prepare for long-term space travel.

Living underwater parallels living in space in many ways. The time frame for missions involves long periods of time away from normal environments and families. Communication with others is not always immediate. In both environments one cannot readily come home, nor ask for help whenever necessary.

To learn how living underwater parallels living in space, astronauts will be training in the Aquarius habitat. During their stay on Aquarius, the astronauts will answer your questions live about their adventures in space and in the underwater habitat (and how they compare), while you are viewing live footage of the astronauts and the Aquarius at work.
