Challenge: Design a Martian

Preliminary Designs
Windsor Forest Elementary School
Team B

Characteristics of Our Martian

Our Martian is a small green & yellow bacterium with lots of fur. The fur acts like a cocoon and a shield. It gets rid of waste by spitting it out of its flagella. It’s an extremeophile. It multiplies when it eats too much .The bacterium feeds on dust from Mars. It sheds its fur when it is hot, and grows it when it’s cold. It travels by the wind. The bacterium absorbs the moisture in the air. The cocoon keeps the moisture it absorbs inside. It does that when it is in a dry environment, or a cold environment. Its cocoon protects it from UV rays, too. It creates a chemical called Octyl Methoxycinnamate. The chemical protects it from the sun’s UV rays.

Facts

  1. Capsule-the outer layer of the bacterium
  2. Cytoplasm-the inner layer of the bacterium
  3. Cell wall-another layer of the bacterium
  4. Nuclear body-sorts out nutrients from waste
  5. Flagella-sucks up food
