Challenge: Design a Martian

Mrs. Wyllie/Mr. Penfield's Science class
North Country Union Junior High School
Vermont's NASA Explorer School

Creably is the Martian that we have designed. To survive in the cold it has a fur coat to keep warm. It gets its water by putting its tail through the ground and sucks up frozen water that it drinks. There is very little water in the air so it has to spend a lot of the time getting to water and drink it from frozen ice. Its tail may stretch to go lower and lower until it finds the water that it needs. The tail is extremely sharp and tough. It sucks up the minerals and vitamins in the soil for food. Creably also eat the rust in the soil. It has sharp feet so it easily goes through the rough terrain and if there is a tornado it sticks its feet into the ground so it won't get sucked up and is a lot safer. There isn't as much gravity on Mars so its point feet help it stay on the ground. Creably have 4 eyelids like camels to help against dust storms and tornadoes. In case something gets in its eyes it has a special liquid something like saline solution to clean out its eyes. Creably usually sleeps at night in caves and does everything else during the day. It breathes carbon dioxide and exhales nitrogen all through its mask. It is red to blend in to the surroundings as a defense mechanism. This is how Creably survives on Mars.
