| Microbiologist
Microbiologists study living things that are
too small to be seen without a microscrope, such as bacteria, algae,
or fungi. They are interested in the effects that microorganisms
have on plants, animals, humans, and the environment. Some microbiologists
study extremophiles, which are organisms that live in harsh environments
like a volcano, deep underground, or in snow and ice. These extremophiles
can help scientists understand what life might be like on other
planets. Microbiologists sometimes work in laboratories and use
special equipment like microscopes, Petri dishes, centrifuges, and
computers to do their work. Some microbiologists work outside to
collect samples and do research.
