Liftoff to Learning: Aviation and Space in the Classroom
Teachers will engage in aerospace and technology-related, hands-on activities, that can be integrated into the current curriculum. The course will include field trips to a local airport and an aerospace facility. Participants will meet at a local airport for an orientation flight at a time TBD.

Future Flight Design
Participants will learn about an exciting, online multimedia website called Future Flight Design. Future Flight Design provides a problem-based learning and interactive design environment to teach students about forces of flight and air transportation/ aircraft systems of the future. This workshop focuses on standards-based, hands-on, and web-based activities created by NASA Ames Research Center for middle school students. Participants will solve a future flight challenge and explore activities with hovercraft, helicopters, and gliders

NASA's "Astro-Venture" Astrobiology Program
"Astro-Venture" is a free interactive astrobiology program by the NASA Ames Research Center. In this program students learn about astronomy, atmospheric science, geology, and biology to see what conditions are needed to support life. Students then design a planet based on what they have learned.

Rhode Island Science Teachers Association Conference
Frustrated at the Airport? Through "Smart Skies" and "Future Flight Design" students will use inquiry to explore problems and design solutions as they integrate aerospace science, math and technology. Your pupils will be highly engaged in problems of distance/rate/time, air transportation and aircraft design.
