FIELD JOURNAL

The Wild Side of Kennedy Space Center

By: Brandt Secosh
June 26, 2000

Working at Kennedy Space Center is always a treat because of the ongoing activities at the Center. Launch activities and space station hardware processing are the most common things that come to mind; however, Kennedy is located on the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and has some of the best beaches and wildlife on the Florida coast! My family and I normally spend our weekends at the beach either fishing or surfing. Each time we go we are treated to incredible wildlife and nature scenes. This weekend was no exception as we made our way out to PlayaLinda beach. As we began to catch our dinner for the evening we talked about the best way to share the experience with the students of the Space Team Online. In an effort to give you a peek at some of the wildlife we put together this slide show. Stephanie, my wife, had a great time narrating it and we dolphi logo - link to videoboth hope you enjoy it. To view the slideshow you must have the Realmedia G2 player. If you don't have this upgrade installed please click here - it's free! If you already have the Realmedia G2 player click the porpoise to start the presentation. If you ever get the chance to visit KSC be sure to leave time to enjoy the beaches and Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge!
