My Journals

Who I Am?
My name is Justin Twigg and I have worked at Kennedy Space Center since May of ’97. I am a senior at the University of Central Florida where I am majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Psychology.

What I Do?

I work in the University Programs Office in the Headquarters Building at Kennedy where I coordinate different programs for University students such as myself. Primarily internships for undergraduates and research programs for graduate students.

My Career Journey
After graduating from Titusville High School in Florida, I was accepted at the University of Central Florida in August of 1996. Up to this point in time, I never really had a job; I was too busy with high school sports and church. I started UCF as a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering student (double-major) but found it not as exciting was I would have liked. By this time I had sent in an application for a summer position at Kennedy and was accepted. I started in May as a Structures Engineer co-op student where I assisted and overlooked many of the operations going on in the VAB, OPF’s, Launch Pads, Landing Facility and also each individual orbitor…basically all the fun stuff. I was hired on as a Stay-in-School student with NASA at the end of the summer so I could work and go to school at the same time. If you have any questions about this program please vist this KSC Site or send an email to me. I switched majors so I had to move to a different directorate that supported non-engineering majors. I ended up at University Programs where I have been since January of 1997. This is where I meet a lot of weird folks, including that Secosh fella! It was a small office that dealt strictly with colleges and different research opportunities. Here is where I began my short-term position as University Programs Assistant. I helped everyone in the office with any and all things that needed to be done. Now, I do a lot with the internship program that brings out hundreds of requests for a job. I also help out on the side for launches and landings as a tour guide and security when necessary. Working for NASA has been so much fun, and I was able to meet tons of people and do an array of jobs.

Personal Information
I absolutely have to play soccer. I have since I was 3 years old, haven’t missed a year yet! I continue to play indoor and intramural at school. I play just about every sport known to man including SCUBA photo of dogdiving. It is very peaceful and relaxing under water. But then again there’s always the sharks and barracudas!

I am married to a beautiful woman name Teri. We have one kid…a Siberian Husky named Cadi.

I will be leaving the Center in May to go on to a different job as a Private Investigator. But this is just a stepping stone to my dream of being a Secret Service Agent.

Influences
My parents taught me to always try my hardest at anything I pursue. It shows that you have courage, determination and an open-mind. My family has always supported me in whatever I felt was the right thing to do, whether it be a small or large decision. Of course there are those role models such as Roberto Baggio, Barry Sanders and such, but I can’t ask them any questions or feel their encouragement and support. Not that it is wrong to want to be like Mike, just do your best to reach your dreams; because they are only as far away as you make them.
