Meet Steven Cain

An International Element Manager
NASA/Kennedy Space Center
Who I am and what I do.
Hi my name is Steven Cain. I am an International Elements Manager for
Kennedy Space Center. I work with the European Space Agency (ESA) to ensure
their module, the Columbus, is safely and effectively processed here at
KSC. The Columbus is the European research module and will be responsible
for research experiments in microgravity similar to the U.S. Lab. I also
work on the Cupola Element, which is a set of windows for the Space Station.
The Cupola is developed by Alenia (Italy), which is the same team, which
developed the MPLMs. This work has provided me a better understanding
of how the world can work together to accomplish a common goal, which
spans across the multicultural world.
How did I get here.
After graduating from Eau Gallie High School, I received a NASA Coop Scholarship
at KSC. I attended college at the University of Central Florida. I graduated
with a bachelor's degree and continued my education with a master's degree
in Engineering Management.
Personal Information.
I was born and grew up in Satellite Beach, but now I live on Merritt Island
with my wife Merilea. I have three children; two boys, Charlie and Nathaniel,
and a little girl Suzanne. The family is very important to me, and most
of my life revolves around them. As a family we love to go camping and
going to the beach. We are also very active with our church family.
Advice.
My advise to the students is to find out what interests you and pursue
a career in that field. Life is too short to do something you don't like
to do. Find a career, which provides you happiness, finish your education
and enjoy life.
