Our instruments are a barometer, 2 thermometers,
a wind sock, compass, sling psychrometer, cloud chart, and rain gauge.
Our data will be collected in the middle of the field outside our classroom.
We will place two thermometers to measure temperature - one at ground
level and the other at eye level. The wind sock and a compass will determine
wind direction. We will see which way the wind is blowing by holding
up the wind sock and determining the direction using the compass. To
save on cost we are going to use the Beaufort Scale to measure wind
speed. The Beaufort Scale uses the movement of the leaves and branches
on the trees to determine wind speed. A cloud chart will be used to
decide the cloud type. We will estimate the percentage of the sky! covered
in clouds that is above the baseball field to come up with a percentage
of cloud cover. The barometer will measure air pressure and the sling
psychrometer will be used to measure humidity. The sling psychrometer
uses two thermometers. One is covered with gauze and the other is left
dry. Using a chart you find the relative humidity. A rain gauge will
be used to measure rainfall. We will use several rain gauges to make

to insure accuracy. We did not have the time to make our instruments,
so we decided to use the instruments we already had.
