As a prime example of interdisciplinary science, the real answer to your
question about astrobiologists really concerns the average salary of
science researchers/educators over a broad range of fields. I am no
expert
in the subject, but would expect this varies greatly with the
institutional
context and geograpghic location. If I had to guess I would say between
$60,000 and $100,000 a year for senior people with a doctortate, the
upper
end of the range being those in Science administration. Entering PhD's
might average between $35,000 to $45,000 a year, again depending on
location and context.
