We are happy to bring you,
from Johnson Space Center,
a live tour of the International Space Station
mockup and training facility.

Welcome to our regularly scheduled tour of the International Space Station mockup and training facility. Each month (on the 3rd Wednesday of the month) you are invited to join our tour guide at Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas. You will be able to ask your questions during the tour and have them answered during the event. If you are not able to join us this month, we hope you can make next month's tour.

Tour dates and time:

  • April 21, 1999 10:00am - 11:00am Pacific (1:00 - 2:00 Eastern)

Johnson Space Center is the center for manned spaceflight and headquarters for the International Space Station Program. JSC is the home of America's astronauts. In this role JSC has the responsibility for training the astronauts and flight controller teams that support manned missions.

Astronaut flight crews for Space Shuttle flights and upcoming Space Station missions receive most of their hands-on training in flight simulators and full-size mockups at JSC. One of the facilities where this type of training is performed is called the Space Station Mockup and Training Facility (SSMTF). The Space Station's mockups of major habitable modules in this facility include the United States Laboratory module, the Crew Habitational Module, two interconnection modules (called Nodes) and the Air-Lock Module. These mockups are presently used for engineering evaluation and later will be used for training the Space Station astronauts.

In order to prepare for this exciting event you may want to visit the International Space Station web site.

A special thanks to the International Space Station Program Outreach Team.
