Texas Parks and Wildlife present...

"An Urban Wildlife Safari "

Wild Kingdom, watch out! Kratt's Creatures, step aside! Wait till you see what's living in the cities of Texas! Join our biologists in the urban centers of Texas as we discover the critters in and around our neighborhoods. Features will include schoolyard habitats, bat bridges, pond life, the Cockrell Butterfly Center, and a segment in Spanish (tell your bilingual students and Spanish classes!) Partners will include Bat Conservation International and The Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Be sure to check out the wonderful classroom activities and teacher resources offered by TPWD online.

  • Do a species survey. How many kinds of fish, mammals, or plants can you find?

  • Look for evidence of an ecosystem -- how plants and animals depend on each other?

  • Collect and identify fresh water macroinvertebrates, including insects.
    and much, much more!
