February 26th, 1999I got up this morning with an eagerness to get on the road again. I packed up my vehicle, checked out of the Bun-Boy and wen to the site to see if they needed any help packing up. They seemed to have things under control so I decided to get an early start to Barstow. I finished taking pictures and video of the site and said a silent good-bye to the place I have been at for a month. I have to say that this experience will be one of those memories that will be hard to forget. I made new friends and learned from the experience. If I ever should have to do one of these projects again I will be even more prepared to give a better product. Well I arrived in Barstow and checked into my hotel and then decided to sharpen my appearance a bit. I went on a search to find a barber shop. I finally found one, and it was a bit scary. It was down in a basement under some other businesses in the downtown Barstow area. There was only one chair and the price was six dollars. I was like it can't be that bad but the guy in the seat was giving me looks like, "Run before it too late" I did not feel like looking for another place at the moment and I really needed a trim. My hair was looking rather shaggy. Since the Barstow Outreach event was going to be tomorrow I needed to look presentable. Well after sweating in the barber chair for about twenty minutes, I finally got to look at myself in one of the warped mirrors and said to my self, "not bad for six bucks". I then proceeded to get my vehicle cleaned up. It was really dirty and I was starting to get teased by the JSC team, especially after they washed all of their equipment down. I found a nice little self car wash facility and spent about 45 minutes trying to get the thing as clean as I could by using quarters. It paid off because the JSC guys noticed that I must have done something to it. I then got something to eat at good old Jack in the Box, and then went back to my motel. I processed some images and replied to some E-mail and then went to bed. All in all It was a pretty active day.
