February 25th, 1999

Everything is getting easier as the days go by, at least for me. Everything goes like clockwork until something breaks. We had another successful day of testing. The Rover interacted with the Suited test subject and everything went fairly well. The visual tracking system on the Rover worked long enough for the scientists to gather enough data. The ASRO team were happy with their tests of the interaction between the rover and the suit. They were having some intercom problems, but eventually were able to correct the problems.

The Video stream worked quite well on my side as well. The only real problem that I had was that my VCR decided not to work today. Jennifer, of the ASRO team offered up the use of their spare VCR. The only problem was that it was bolted to their console. We decided to run cables back and forth from my car to their console. Then we had some problems with a grounding issue and some video splitters. We worked it out and got everything to work properly right before the testing was to begin. I would have to say that we were successful. Everyone is planning on packing up here. I can tell you that I have already have started the packing process. I kept the live video going for as long as I could and then we started to tear things down. Everyone was anxious to go back to town and get cleaned up and celebrate the success of the test.

Most of the Ames team went to Las Vegas while Hans and I stayed with the JSC team to party at the Bun-Boy motel. Since the test is over I can safely tell you where were staying this whole month. Baker, California. A nice town with a lot of nice people in it, but it would not be the place for me to live. We came back to the motel and relaxed. Plenty of beverages and cake to eat. It happened to be Maurice's birthday, so we sang happy birthday to him. He is from JSC and the ASRO team. I did good at horse shoes but not good enough, for Wendell on the other team was racking up the ringers. It was Willie and me against Hans and Wendell. Later that night we all got dispersed and eventually found our ways to our rooms. The next day we were going to pack up and get ready to go to Barstow.

Until tomorrow this is Seth signing off.
