February 18th 1999

This morning I got up early and to my surprise Alan Federman was gone. He had vanished during the night never to be seen. Some aliens came and abducted him, and left a message saying that they needed the information that was stored in his brain. I thought this was cool because I lived to tell about it in my journal entries. Any ways, Alan had said that he was going to go home today since there wasn't any important things for him to around here. So when I called and he wasn't there at his room in the morning I figured he had left. I talked to him later in the day and he said that it was raining back in San Jose. I feel good that I am here in the desert where it is nice and warm and dry. This seems to be a good part of the year to be here. Hopefully Jamie made it safely and she is keeping dry over there. I came to the site and I knew that I had a lot of work to do today. They immediately needed me to help them with a video problem that they were having. I had the connectors in my car that they needed. I plan to go to a nearby city tonight and get some connectors that I will need over the next week. I helped as much as I could and then I did some biographies of the ASRO/JSC people. They were very interesting to talk to. They seem like a fun bunch. Their work is very interesting too. After that I went to a nearby High School and talked with some teachers regarding the event tomorrow and also arranged some tours that they wanted to take their kids on. It is a very small school so they only have a small number of students that would be coming out here. They plan on coming Monday or so. When I came back there was a kite flying around over the site. The JSC people were passing the time. I thought that was cool. Shortly after they packed up and went back to their motels. I have been working on my journals and pictures. It is a bit windy here but it has calmed down pretty good. It is really nice now. The sun is on the horizon and the wind is drifting over everything with a subtle gentleness. Cesar and Linda and maybe some others are going to go back also. It is almost five O'clock now. I need to go back now also but I want to stay and type in this nice weather. I feel like a writer in the middle of nowhere trying to gather his thoughts into one of the greatest books of all time. Well in the desert you can dream. Maybe I am losing it. Here you go. The shadows bounce around with the wind. Like they are teasing each other in a game that Mother Nature has laid out for them. Is it this way on Mars I think to myself? Are there gusts of wind that shape the ground that we see from the Cameras that we are testing. The thought tickles my mind into an absolute oblivion. Does the sun look the same? Is it as quiet there as it is here? I bet the sunsets are even more beautiful there. But for now I must be indulged by the calming smell of this sacred Earth for it is where I was born and The Earth to me shall always look the prettiest. I hope that we make it to see other worlds before we kill ourselves off. Sometimes it seems like we are going in the wrong direction in terms of Human evolution. That is only the opinion of myself though. A little technician in the middle of nowhere. This is Seth Signing off.
