February 16th 1999Another day in the desert. Today is Tuesday and it was a pretty uneventful day. I went to the site and set up the encoder and then came back to my motel to write email and send some information. Jamie decided to do some homework that will be due whe n she returns to school. I was trying to get people set up for this week's event this Friday. We were able to see what was going on in the site from my room by bringing up Real Player. If the connection went down, then we would know that we should get out there and see what happened. Fortunately nothing like that happened so we went out there after I finished up with my stuff at about 4 in the afternoon. We helped tear down and took pictures of whatever else we could. We took down the encoder when t he sun went down and it was too dark to se anything. At about 6:30 we went back to town and got cleaned up and then went out to dinner with everyone. When I came back to my motel Alan Federman was in the parking lot with the JSC (Johnson Space Center) f olks. They had broken their Inverter for their power supply for the VCRs and the intercom system that they had. Alan was attempting to help them fix it but he was unsuccessful. There must have been something really wrong with it since all of these NASA engineers couldn't do a thing with it. In the morning it still wasn't fixed so I offered them my inverter which up to now I only used to power my laptop while in my car. They were very grateful for my service. I just hope that I get all of my stuff back. There are different groups of people here that are using a variety of equipment that I have brought. Back to the previous night. We went to dinner where everyone was at and met up with Alan Federman again. We talked about various things about the site and the work we were doing. Alan had brought his son Ethan along. I could tell that they were excited to go out to the site and see all of the interesting things that they were hearing so much about. That is about all I have for today. Seth
