2/17/99I woke up this morning at 7:30 AM. I wanted to get an early start this morning. Today is my last day here. I am scheduled to fly out tonight. For one last time, Seth came to my room and picked me up. After that he called Alan and went to his motel and picked him and his son up. Ethan, Alan's son is a very smart and polite young man for his age. We made our way over to the site. I sat staring out the window trying to absorb as much scenery as I could so I could take back fresh memories to share with my family. I started my days work with my journal entry. The ASRO technicians unpacked their equipment and set it all up. Their equipment looked really interesting. But I was unable to take a good look at it. I took the camera off the encoder and filmed every piece of this site. Later on Seth might use a lot of the footage I took to archive it and have it posted on the Web Site. I also took my own personal pictures of everyone and the Marsokhod. Around 2:00 p.m. Seth, Alan, Ethan, and I went into town for lunch. Seth dropped me off at my place so I could pack and get ready for my journey home. We drove into the big city to catch my flight. We arrived a little early so we stopped at a souvenir shop. In a way I was sad to leave. This has been a real adventure for me. I can't wait until the next live event. Well until the next adventure this is Jamie Silva signing off. |
