NASA Hosts a Series of Events for the "Aerodynamics in Sports Technology"
Project
Wednesday, September 9, 1998 9:00 am. - 10:00 am. Pacific Time
- The top tennis experts from the US Tennis Association's Sport Science
Committee will chat with you during the 1998 US Open. They'll be answering
your questions on physics, the science of equipment, and biomechanics.
"Aerodynamics in Sports
Technology" is an exciting interactive project that focuses
on sports to teach students science, as part of NASA's educational
outreach mission on the World Wide Web.
Through a series of live conferences and "chat" sessions over the
Internet, students and teachers from kindergarten through twelfth
grade can follow the project and actually participate by posing questions
and sharing in the results. The activities and lesson plans teach
students the same principles the research team is studying.
Through the project students are learning that scientific principles
apply to all areas of life, including sports, and that athletes and
scientists can work together for mutual benefits!
