Bio - Thomas Farr,
SRTM Team Member
Dr. Thomas Farr is the SRTM Deputy Project Scientist. He brings an
extensive background in radar and the use of digital topographic data to
this position. His primary role is as the NASA and civilian point of contact,
ensuring the data meet the needs of scientists and commercial interests.
Tom earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in geology from Caltech,
and his Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Washington. He has been
in radar science at JPL for over 23 years, specializing in geologic remote
sensing.
Tom spends his spare time (and much of his spare money!) on his sailboat
in Santa Barbara, California. He maintains his pleasant disposition by
spending his work day lunch break running or rock climbing in the nearby
mountains and canyons of the San Gabriel Mountain Range.
