July 30, 1998 Dear Journal, At around six thirty we pulled into the Kodiak Islands area. I am looking forward to being on land again and can't wait to see what Kodiak is like. There are many deserted little islands. I am very fascinated by the beautiful mountains. It almost looks like paradise. About two hours later we docked. The NASA team and I made a break for the nearest restaurant. We went downtown and ate at a restaurant called Henry's. The food was very good. It was very strange because after being on a boat for some time and then switching to land it felt like I was still on the boat. I felt very light headed. Everyone else said the same. I was very surprised that the town of Kodiak is so small. From what I have seen the average population is about three thousand. I bought some souvenirs and some postcards from a little gift store. I hope to send to the postcards to my friends and family. I had a really great time just relaxing in the town of Kodiak with my co-workers.
