Today is my first day on the boat. I am very excited about this trip. I think it is going to be a very interesting experience and I can't wait to leave to the Arctic. Right now the ship is docked in Seattle and it will start its mission up to the coast of the Arctic the 24th of July. One of the Polar Star crewmembers showed us to our rooms and where we are going to work. I spent most of my day unpacking and setting up all of our equipment. The NASA team and I are working really hard getting every thing ready.

I am very proud to be apart of this project. Not many high school students get offers like this every day. This is definitely a great opportunity. I am also glad that there is another high school student involved with this project. So I can talk to someone. Everyone has been very nice to us on the boat and fascinated with the project we're doing. They are also very surprised that Damien and I are both 17 and working for NASA and with this type of project. I am a little nervous about the demonstration with Sky software but I think I'll be all right.

The best thing about this trip is the challenge. The main thing I want out of this trip is to be a part of something important in the education of students. I would also like to become more proficient with the technology we will be involved with. I am really looking forward to this experience.
