August 7, 1998 Dear, Journal We are now heading toward the ice station Sheba. By morning we will see ice. It is starting to get really cold. The sun helps a little because it is out twenty-four hours a day. I woke up early this morning to do an interview with one of the scientists from Sheba. My job again was to make sure the (HSD) high seed data link didn't go down so we can excess the Internet and down load, and send out email. Because we are proceeding further North it is harder for the ships satellite to linkup. Because of this the HSD kept crashing on us, we linked up through our portable satellite and got a really good connection. The interview went okay except that we were late. Some people were still hanging in there watching the interview. After we took the station down and ate breakfast, which was very good by the way, I took a shower and nap. Mark, Damien, and Seth linked up again later in the afternoon. I woke up just in time to help them tear down the station. I didn't have an exciting day. Later on that night I watched a movie with Mark, Damien, Seth, and three Navy divers. It was a really good movie; we watched "Kiss the Girls." Maybe there will be an adventure for me tomorrow.:)
