August 5, 1998

Today I woke up around 8 to find out that I missed breakfast. We had a fire drill at 13:00 (Military time for 1 o'clock). We were told which boat we'd be getting on if the boat happened to be sinking. Other than that not much has happened today. For dinner we had these cookies that were as hard as rock. Mark grabbed one and punched it as hard as he could and it wouldn't break. He almost broke his tooth trying to sink his teeth into it. We also had another fire drill. I feel that we have one of these fire drills every other day or so.

Lately I've noticed that the days are getting much colder. Also It's getting harder to wake up. I think it's probably because I'm staying up late working with sending out email and other computer tasks. The nights are getting shorter and the days are getting longer. I can walk outside the ship at midnight and there is still some light in the sky.
