August 4, 1998

Today I woke up at around 7 in the morning to get some breakfast. It was actually pretty good. After that I went to the supply room to get my arctic suit. We got these thick pants, boots, jackets and socks for when we get further up north. When we reach SHEBA or even Point Barrow we'll need many layers of clothing. It won't be as cold because it's the summer time but we will still need to have on the Arctic gear. After that I went straight to sleep. The boat was rocking quit a bit today. I'm happy that I bought some patches for the seasickness. Otherwise I think I'd be spending a lot of time with my head in the toilet. The whole entire day I interviewed the crew and members onboard the ship. I took some pictures of everyone and now it's my job to convert the pictures from the camera to the computer. In a couple days or so you'll be able to see all of the bio's me and Jamie have been doing the last couple of days. Jamie and I have to interview the 135 people onboard the Polar Star. We just passed the Aleutian Islands. I got to see a volcano that is on the Islands. It's really amazing that at midnight it's still light outside.
