August 24, 1998

Today was another day of set up and Internet connection. One of the main events that happened today was interviewing Jeff Ota. Jeff is the lead NASA person in charge of the ROV project. He arrived here when Jeremy, Alex, and Aaron came onboard. Again the waves were too strong to send out the ROV and they couldnÕt send out the divers or the boats either because of the conditions. Jamie was sick this day, so Seth and me set up all of the equipment, and the portable satellite. We were not able to get a stable Internet link with either the shipÕs satellite or our portable so we recorded the interview. Later in the evening I transferred the interview from the camcorder to my computer. I sent the encoded version of the interview over the HSD (High-Speed Data) link. Which is the Polar Stars satellite.
