I woke up around eleven today and ate some lunch. We had to get ready to test out the wireless bridge. Seth and myself were going to go out on the LV and test out the wireless bridge. Mark and Jamie stayed onboard the Polar Star to have the Internet and satellite working. I geared up in my red mustang suit just minutes before they had to depart the boat. I felt like a bright red balloon. One of the main purposes of taking off in the LV was to test out the ROV. The boat was so full with people and equipment that it was really hard to get around in it. When we finally got about a mile or so away from the ship we started setting up all of the equipment. The boat kept rocking back and forth. Back and forth, and back and forth. I tried to concentrate on the horizon but the ship was moving so much that the ship would pass the horizon and it only made me feel sicker. This happened to be one of the days that I didnÕt wear a patch behind my ear for seasickness. I was so nauseous that I wasnÕt able to do any work. Luckily Seth handled everything and was able to successfully test out the wireless bridge. The boat was moving so much and the waves were so large that they were not able to drop the ROV into the water. They had to cancel the test and we decided to go back. Before reaching the ship after about 45 minutes in the little LV boat I finally couldnÕt hold it any longer and I had to get rid of todayÕs lunch. So in the end I won the contest that we had made at the beginning of the trip and I had won 15 dollars from Mark, Seth and Jamie. When I finally returned I felt all weak, and I had to rest. I was dehydrated and I just drank some mint tea. I wasnÕt able to eat the dinner because it would definitely upset my stomach. IÕm pretty sure that I donÕt want to go on the LVÕs again on this trip unless I have taken seasickness medication and I feel ok. Otherwise Seth is one of the designated crew for the LV trips from now on. It looks like every day or two a couple of the NASA team will have to go onto the LV to do interviews and testing. It is a little weird that I was on the ship for over a month and I never threw up until today. I ended up relaxing and resting after returning that night.
