We started traveling south back towards Point Barrow early this morning. A lot, and then a little has happened since we first boarded the ship in Seattle Washington. There have been a lot of events and I also I have had a lot of spare time.

Later in the evening we arrived about a mile away from the shore of Barrow. There were a couple of people who boarded the Polar Star. There was one freelance reporter, who is hoping to produce a program for the Discovery channel. There was also Michele Hope from the U.S. Department of Interior, who is hoping to discover some sunken ships. And there was a handful of other people who came onboard today. I got an email from my mom today. I really enjoy receiving mail from other people because I have a lot of spare time onboard this ship. It is also great to still be able to communicate in some way since IÕm on this ship in the middle of the Arctic Circle. To be away from malls, cities and mass amounts of people, but to still be able to receive letters thousands of miles from home.

I am reading this book called "Demian" by Hermann Hesse. It is an interesting book and it is something to spend my time on when IÕm up for reading.

For dinner tonight we had hamburgers. The best part of the meal was these rice crispy treats that they made. They tasted really good. Also at around midnight or so they have meals for the night shift workers. Every once in a while when I miss breakfast and lunch like today I go and eat late night to get something in my stomach. I enjoy the food that they have at nighttime usually more than the food that they have for lunch or dinner. Usually they serve pancakes, french toast, melted cheese sandwiches, corn dogs, french fries, and many other things.
