August 2, 1998

On Sunday I just stayed on the boat most of the day. When I woke up I went with Seth and Mark to test out the wireless router. We connected the central router to the ship and we took the remote router to the van. We tested out the connection between the two while we moved around through the city. It is really amazing technology that you can ride in a boat, in the middle of the ocean ten miles away from the Polar Star, and you could use these wireless routers to connect to the internet. I never wanted to eat the Polar Star food so since we were out in the van so I asked to stop by McDonalds to get a little something. The prices there are much more expensive then the costs of a Mickey D's in California. I paid seven dollars for one chicken sandwich meal that would have been only 4 something at another place. I'm going to be broke by no time if I don't save my money and stop buying this expensive food.

After that I called my friend Sean up in California. It cost me over a dollar a minute to talk to him from a local pay phone. Seth climbed the mountain that we drove to the other day to do the INMAR SAT demonstration. It was really steep and was almost completely vertical. The only way it was possible to climb it was that there was bushes and stuff to hold on to.

I couldn't go to bed and just ended up staying up until 6 or so in the morning.
